Hey coffee table get me a beer!!

Look I’ll be upfront and say the following phrase is a direct rip-off from Australia’s greatest ever broadcaster, Alan Jones. “Our listeners (or in this case our readers) are our best researches.” Because it took Matt, a member of The Man Cave group on Facebook to produce this gem. It’s called the Sobro Smart Coffee Table and we here at EFTM HQ need one.

This on the surface looks like a pretty swanky table with a glass-top finish plus a few draws and castor wheels. But nooo, it’s so much more. It has two inbuilt Bluetooth speakers, 2 USB ports, 4 110V outlets (It’s a US product) plus LED lights.

But the most flexible piece of furniture I’ve seen doesn’t stop there. The Sobro can keep drinks and food chilled, not like an esky, it’s an actual fridge with a compressor onboard.

The dual Bluetooth speakers are on each side of the table and deliver “enhanced sound and rich bass.” The LED lights are placed underneath providing the right mood for whatever occasion.

Interestingly, there’s no app to download. In fact, all you need to do is screw the legs on and plug it in. Speaking of which, that did get my mind thinking. Where does the cord go? They suggest placing the Sobro on a mat, cutting a hole in it then running the cord underneath until it’s out of sight.

Some of the cool features include:

  • Touch control panel
  • Adjustable Refrigerator 2.7 to 12.2 degrees Celsius.
  • Refrigerator drawer supports up to 25kg

Product Details

  • Top Material: Glass
  • Base Material: Metal

There’s also actually a broader theme at play here, we’re going to see more and more “smart” furniture over the coming years.

I’m not sure if we can get one of these into the country just yet, but I’ll be lobbying the US based company Wayfair who sell it to do just exactly that. Mind you it ain’t cheap, at the time of publication it would cost $1868 Aussie dollars!
