We’ve previously reported on Kia’s new global compact SUV, but until now it remained nameless. Well today we learn it will be called the Kia Seltos
The name has its roots in Greek mythology and the legend of Celtos, who was the son of Hercules, or so I’m told. Kia says the ‘S’ in the name “implies speed and sportiness and brings the name in line with Kia’s Sportage and Sorento SUVs.”
This is an SUV squarely aimed at the millennial generation. Kia set out to find the perfect blend between sophistication, a sporty edge and the capabilities you’d expect from a traditional SUV.
The Seltos offers a long hood, a bold-looking front bumper and sharp lines pressed into exterior panels. The windows taper towards the rear of the car giving it quirky look. Out back is a rear bumper with a metallic muffler effect which adds some more bling.
Tech-savvy buyers will appreciate the dramatic cabin and its highly technical details. There’s a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and even a “Sound Mood Lighting” feature.
The Kia Seltos will be fully revealed later this month, with sales in Korea and other regions to follow in the second half of 2019.
