ALPINA B3 Touring to storm into Australia

As seen at the Frankfurt Motor Show this, a new-generation ALPINA B3 Touring will go on sale here. Although ALPINA is a standalone brand, it uses BMW vehicles to stamp its own mark on them, especially when it comes to performance and added luxury.

This 340kW all-wheel drive wagon uses a BMW twin-turbocharged straight-six, found in the BMW X3 M and X4 M. However, the already rapid engine is specially tuned by ALPINA engineers, right down to the twin turbochargers.

The figures are pretty handy with 340kW from 5,000 to 7,000rpm and a massive 700Nm of torque on tap from 3,000 to 4,750rpm. It uses a ZF eight-speed transmission, combined with more of the ALPINA magic touch that includes specific software and aluminium paddle shifters.

ALPINA Australia National Sales Manager, Phil Jeffery said, ‘The new ALPINA B3 Touring presents a unique option to the Australian marketplace,”

“With all the practicality of a Touring Wagon, the security of all-wheel drive, incredible performance and bespoke styling options, the B3 Touring ticks a lot of desirable boxes.”

There’s a rear electronically controlled limited-slip differential to help get all that power to the ground via the ALPINA-tuned BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system.

The B3 Touring can be fitted with 19-inch ALPINA DYNAMIC or 20-inch ALPINA CLASSIC alloys, wrapped in Pirelli P Zero ‘ALP’ tyres.

It should pull up well with 395mm front discs with four-piston calipers. The rear axle scores a floating-piston caliper with 345mm discs.

The ALPINA touch is also splashed around the interior and exterior of the new BMW sourced 3 series.

The APLINA B3 Touring will arrive in the 2nd half of next year, more details including pricing will be announced then. But it’s great to see a hotted-up Euro wagon!
