Porsche Taycan 4S announced – Lower price expected

As expected Porsche will extend its recently launched fully-electric Taycan range via a new model known as the 4S. Back in September EFTM travelled to Berlin to see for ourselves the world unveiling of the brands first ever electric car.

Taycan 4S

Two models were revealed back then, a Taycan S and Taycan Turbo. Both expected to be priced from $300,000 to $350,000.

The 4S is basically a ’budget’ or base model we expect to arrive around the $200,000 mark.

The Taycan 4S will be available with two battery sizes. A 79.2 kWh Performance model will produce 390kW, while a 93.4 kWH Performance Plus battery ramps things up to 429kW. For perspective The Taycan S produces 500kW while the Taycan Turbo delivers an epic 560kW.

Both 4S variants however will sprint to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds with a top speed of 250 km/h and be AWD. The base battery is capable of 407km of range while the more powerful Plus battery is good for 463km. The range is based on the European Worldwide Harmonized Light-Duty Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) benchmark.

Charging capacity peaks at 225 kW (Performance battery) or 270 kW (Performance battery Plus).

Porsche will announce official Australian pricing for the new Taycan 4S, as well as the Turbo S and Turbo, in early 2020.
