What’s on TV for 2020? Part 2 – Channel 7’s big plans

After a lacklustre suite of new shows coming from Channels 10 and 9 in 2020, Channel 7 believe they are the underdog in 2019 and need to do more in 2020.

Eleven new shows are scheduled mainly in the 7.30 timeslot throughout the year.

On the cooking front, as has been strongly rumoured, we will see Gary & Matt ex-Masterchef join 7 for a new show called Plate of Origin which appears to be a competition of nationality cuisines. In addition to this, we will see a reinvention of MKR (My Kitchen Rules) into MKR The Rivals.  This show will see 2 teams mentored by Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge, while Pete Evans serves as judge.

On the reality front, we will see Farmer Wants A Wife and Big Brother Revolution Reborn on Channel 7 and House Rules High Stakes taken to a more premium building experience and now hosted by Jamie Jury.

Drama we will see two new shows, one based around the Royal Flying Doctor service filmed in outback Australia and Between Two Worlds which is a rich vs poor collision of families as best I could tell.

Last but not least the outrageous.  Starting with a hyped-up version of Australia’s Got Talent The Champions which is self-explanatory, SAS Who Dares Wins where a number of celebrities are put to the test in commando training, Pooch Perfect hosted by Rebel Wilson for all you dog fans and finally Mega Mini Golf.  Mega Mini Golf in the shorts turned out to be quite funny with contestants playing mini-golf but with hurdles ranging from distractions to being knocked off the course themselves by obstacles.

Other news from 7 includes the conversion of 7mate back to high definition next year and a change of programing on 7flix to target younger females.  The Tokyo Olympics will be a big investment for 7 but the best news is all the extra streaming channels with all the extra content will be free,  previously seven charged a subscription fee to view these.

So lots of new shows but many of them reborn from the past hopefully to entertain us all. Enjoy watching. Cheers!
