The Rolls-Royce of Honey: No really, Rolls Royce is making Honey

No, seriously, I really mean the Rolls-Royce of honey.

The home of Rolls-Royce is at Goodwood, in the middle of the South Downs National Park. The Sir Nicholas Grimshaw designed factory is more art gallery than industrial hub and a factory apiary builds on the company’s strong environmental emphasis.

While car making activities at the factory have closed for COVID 19, things have still been busy at the Double R. A team of 250,000 busy bees have been working their guts out and are on track to exceed the 2020 volume targets for honey.

Now, I hope you didn’t expect Rolls-Royce to just throw up a couple of white frames down behind the garden shed and hope for the best. The Goodwood Apiary is made up of six hand crafted hives, each with a polished stainless steel nameplate: ‘Phantom’, ‘Wraith’, ‘Ghost’, ‘Dawn’ and ‘Cullinan’ and the ‘Spirit of Ecstasy’. I’m guessing ‘Cullinan’ is the shitest hive.

When we are able to fly again, the new Rolls Royce factory is absolutely on my must see list.
