Samsung announces the $499 Galaxy A31 and $899 Galaxy A71 5G Smartphones for Australia

As far as Samsung goes, $499 is cheap so the entry Galaxy A31 for many will be very appealing – as will the $899 5G version of it’s big brother the A71.

Both phones hit Australia in the next week, joining the A51 and A71 which quietly launched more recently at $599 and $749 respectively.

The $499 A31 features a 6.4 inch Super AMOLED display with a 20:9 aspect ratio as well as Dolby Atmos sound.

Camera wise, this thing is crazy – four cameras, main, ultra-wide, depth and macro and a 48 megapixel sensor on the main camera for quality.

That said, we’ll be interested to see it head to head with Alcatel’s 3L with its 48Megapixel camera at $300 less.

The 5,000mAh battery on the Galaxy A31 means a solid day long or two day long performance without question.

It’s powered by an Octa-Core processor and has an in-screen fingerprint reader.

Samsung’s Garry McGregor says “The Galaxy A Series is one of the heroes of Samsung’s ‘innovate with purpose’ story. While we have always been at the forefront of pioneering tech breakthroughs, the real magic is in how Samsung has been able to translate innovation into meaningful experiences.”

“The growing mid-tier market journey is well documented, for us the Galaxy A20 was one of the most popular smartphones of 2019. So, we understand that a large proportion of our local audience want to consider their spending, but also desire access to the latest technology.”

A Series is one of the most exciting portfolios from Samsung that truly delivers on choice when it comes to affordable, quality smartphone technology.”

At the upper end of the Galaxy A series range is the 5G enabled Galaxy A71. At $899 it’s an affordable entry into the 5G world.

Again with four cameras, the 64Megapixel main, a 5MP Depth, 5MP Macro along with the 12MP f2.2 Ultra Wide this thing shapes up against some solid competition on the camera front.

The A71 5G has a 6.7 inch Super AMOLED display, and Octa Core processor.

You’ve got face recognition and in-screen fingerprint reader for security built in.

The Galaxy A31 is available from Monday 18 May through Samsung online as well as JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman and The Good Guys.

The Galaxy A71 5G will be available a couple of days later on 20 May through Samsung online and selected operators
