Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition goes official launching in Australia on October 9th

In 2020 a flagship smartphone can cost upwards of $2,000. Samsung’s flagships are at the head of that trend, but they’ve launched a new Galaxy S20 Fan Edition mixing premium & mid-range features and an array of fun new colours to come up with something pretty good, and at a cheaper price.

The Galaxy S20 Fan Edition (FE) has similar design to the original, with a stand out camera island on the rear and centre mounted punch hole notch in the display.

Samsung are offering both 4G and 5G options on the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition, with the 4G model including 128GB of storage for $999, while the 5G model has options for 128GB ($1,149) or 256GB ($1,249) of onboard storage.

There’s a larger 6.5-inch AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate though it’s capped at FHD+ resolution. The Selfie cam in the notch is bumped to 32MP.

The camera array on the rear includes a Ultra Wide 12MP sensor with 123˚ field-of-view, Wide-angle 12MP sensor and 8MP Telephoto sensor with a 3x optical zoom or 30x hybrid Space Zoom.

The whole shebang includes a 4,500mAh battery which supports both wired and wireless fast charging.

Another change is to the body which retains the IP68 water and dust resistance, but Samsung is now offering the S20 Fan Edition in six fun colour options: Cloud Red, Cloud Orange, Cloud Lavender, Could Mint, Cloud White and Cloud Navy.

Galaxy S20 Fan Edition Colours

Garry McGregor, Vice President, Mobile Division, Samsung Electronics Australia said “The S20 Fan Edition is a fun and fresh extension of the S Series family – the vibrant colour palette reflects the optimism we know so many of our customers are seeking after a tough year of heavy news and world events.

Samsung first started their ‘Fan Editions’ using parts from the Galaxy Note 7 after it experienced issues. This Galaxy S20 Fan Edition however looks to be a very well thought out option offering the high-end flagship features and pro grade camera we love about the S20, but at a more affordable price.

Samsung is launching the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition in Australia on October 9th through the Samsung Experience Stores as well as selected retail partners with pre-orders going live from tomorrow, 25th of September. Customer pre-ordering get a bonus pair of Galaxy Buds Live worth $319.
