Spotify Wrapped 2020 sums up what we streamed to get through the year

It seems like 2020 has gone on for a lot longer than it’s allotted 12 months, but it is coming to an end. After 12 months, it’s time for round ups and Spotify is first cab of the rang with their list of what we’ve been streaming this year.

The Spotify Wrapped 2020 list takes into account all 320 million subscribers who used the Spotify service and contains the top artists, albums, songs, playlists and podcasts for the year, with both global and more local results.

Music

The Weeknd topped the list both in Australia, and globally with his single Blinding Lights getting the nod as the most streamed song, while local Tones and I got second place with Dance Monkey.

Juice WRLD got the nod as the most streamed artist in Australia, while globally, Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny took out the most streamed artist title.

Australian hip hop group the Hilltop Hoods are our favourite local artist to stream, while The Wiggles are the most streamed artist on Spotify Kids.

Billie Eilish getting the nod as Spotify’s most-streamed female artist, with Taylor Swift hot on her heels in second place.

Bad Bunny also gets a nod with the most-streamed album globally of 2020, with YHLQMDLG, though it was followed by The Weeknd’s After Hours and Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding.

Podcasts

For those of you who listen to podcasts more than music, you’ll be unsurprised to hear that the behemoth that is The Joe Rogan Experience took out the top spot in podcasts for Spotify this year. If you’re not into MMA, DMT or psilocybin, you can check out the second and third place podcasts TED Talks Daily and The Daily.

This year Australians exhibited a fascination with the current affairs, with From the NewsroomThe Quicky, and Squiz Today named as the top three podcasts streamed in Australia. It all sounds serious, but never fear, our larrikin nature persevered with Comedy podcasts the most popular genre with Australian listeners.
