Acer adds AMD options to Aspire and Nitro laptops with new Intel 11th Gen for Predator Triton & Helios 300

Acer has already shown off their new AMD powered Chromebook, but after a big launch last year, AMD is now everywhere at CES, including in new Acer Aspire and Nitro laptops. Acer is also updating the Nitro 5 with options for NVIDIA’s RTX 3080 graphics, and Acer’s Predator 300 is adding options for Intel’s latest 11th Gen “Tiger Lake” Intel Core processors.

Aspire 5 and Aspire 7

Both the Aspire 5 and Aspire 7 will have options for AMD Ryzen 5000 Series Mobile Processors, though they get different graphics options. The Aspire 7 will be paired with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 GPU, while the Aspire 5 will be paired with AMD Radeon GPUs.

The Aspire 5 and Aspire 7 both come with a 15.6-inch FullHD resolution display, though the Aspire 7 gets the bonus of IPS LCD.

Aspire 7

For the Aspire 7, Acer will give you options of up to 32GB of DDR4 memory, up to a 1TB PCIe SSD. The Aspire 5 you can configure up to 24GB of RAM, with a 1 TB M.2 PCIe SSD NVMe and/or up to a 2TB HDD.

Both laptops come with USB-C for fast data transfer at up to 5 Gbps, as well as support for Wi-Fi 6.

Acer says both the Aspire 5 and Aspire 7 will arrive in Australia ‘ in Q2 2021’ with pricing to be confirmed.

Nitro 5

For fans of Acer’s Nitro series gaming laptops, the introduction of AMD CPUs is doubled by the option to include up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Laptop GPUs.

The Nitro 5 is available in either 15.6-inch or 17.3-inch sizes, which can either be FullHD (1920×1080) resolution with a 360Hz refresh rate, or QHD (2560×1440) with a 165Hz refresh rate, both at 3ms response.

Nitro 5

Acer says you can configure the new Nitro 5 with up to an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX CPU, and obviously up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 laptop GPU. Acer will let you put in up to 32GB of DDR4 (3200) RAM and you can also configure Dual M.2 PCIe/SATA SSDs – that’s potentially up to 2TB NVMe SSD / 2TB HDD.

To keep all this cool, Acer has included dual fans, with their Acer CoolBoost technology and four exhaust ports to keep air flowing. Acers CoolBoost keeps an eye on fan speed and ‘increases it when necessary to optimise total performance’.

Acer says the that both the 15-inch Acer Nitro 5 (AN515-45) and 17-inch Nitro 5 (AN517-41) will be available in Australia in Q2 2021, but we’ll hear pricing closer to launch.

Predator 300

Acer has also updated their Predator 300 gaming laptops for 2021. Acer has refreshed their Predator Helios 300 with an option for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Laptop GPU, while the Predator Triton 300 SE gets new new 11th Gen Intel Core H35-series processors and a more compact 14-inch display.

Predator Helios 300

As above, the big news for Acer’s Predator Helios 300 is the option now to include NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics. Pair this with the 15.6-inch FullHD resolution IPS display with up to 240Hz refresh rate and it’s a great gaming option.

Predator Helios 300

Other internal options sees you able to add up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM and 1TB M.2 PCIe Gen3x4 SSD.

Acer says the Predator Helios 300 will be available in Australia in Q2 2021, and as usual pricing is to be confirmed.

Predator Triton 300 SE

Acer has launched the silver Special Edition Predator Triton 300 (SE) in silver. The machine can include up to 11th Gen Intel Core i7 H35-series Special Edition processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop graphics.

Predator Triton 300 SE

The graphics will look great on the Predator Triton 300 SE’s 14-inch FHD display which has a 144 Hz refresh rate and three thin bezels. The laptop is capable of up to 10 hours of battery life says Acer.

Acer has included a backlit 3-zone RGB keyboard to make it look sweet, and there’s a good amount of ports on board including Thunderbolt 4, USB 3.2 Gen 2 and HDMI.

Acer says the Predator Triton 300 SE is still ‘pending availability in Australia’, so we’ll have to wait for more info there.
