Sharing your passion for music with the kids is getting easier, with Spotify introducing Shared Playlists on Spotify Kids.
The new pin-protected feature will allow parents on a Spotify Family Premium plan to create, review and share kid-friendly playlists to their kids on Spotify Kids.
Spotify Kids currently offers more than 300,000 kid-friendly tracks and 1,300 playlists, handpicked by Spotify’s editorial team. The addition of Shared Playlists on Spotify Kids gives parents the option to expand their kids music tastes with the likes of “Africa” by TOTO, “Brown Eyed Girl” by Van Morrison and other classics – even if they’re a little ‘risque’.
When adding a playlist to the available ones on Spotify Kids, parents will still be able to see any explicit material included. Spotify says that any album cover artwork and tracks included in the playlist that are classed as explicit will be marked with an ‘E’. Parents can choose to remove those songs, or leave them in. Changes made to playlists in your app, will also be reflected in the Spotify Kids playlist as well, so you can change your mind at any time.
The feature is rolling out now in Australia, as well as in other markets, including the UK, New Zealand, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, the U.S., Canada, France, Germany, and Japan. You can try it out now if you’re a Spotify Family Premium subscriber.
