Sony announces hot looking Cosmic Red and Midnight Black DualSense controllers for PS5

The white colour scheme of the Playstation 5 may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but Sony is upping their game announcing two hot new colours for their Dual Sense controllers set to launch next month.

The Sony Playstation blog has the new colours which are Midnight Black and Cosmic Red. The controllers are the same internally as the original white DualSense controller, featuring haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, offering one of the truly ‘Next-gen’ experiences of this latest generation game console.

Sony has said that the controllers will arrive in-store ‘next month’, and pricing is likely to be the same as the current-gen DualSense controller which sells for RRP 9.95 here in Australia, but we’ll see if any specials crop up when they go up for pre-order, or arrive in-store.
Edit: Looks like they’re up for pre-order 9.95 for Midnight Black, and 9.95 for Cosmic Red, live at The Gamesmen, EBGames, JB Hifi.

Leo Cardoso of the Sony Playstation design team, describes the reasoning behind launching Red and Black controllers:

“Our goal is to always find designs that will surprise and entice our fans, and these new colors are the result of an extensive selection process. We wanted the new controller colors to complement each other, as well as the original DualSense wireless controller and PS5 console, so we designed the colors around the theme of ‘galaxy’ as it felt like a natural progression from the original PS5 and accessories designs.”

I’m absolutely on board for the Black controller, but with my need for completing a collection, I think it’ll be joined by the Cosmic Red very soon. Now to get them to sell me black replacement panels for my PS5 and I’ll be set.
