TCL add new products to their value line, including a 5G phone for under $500

Smartphones offer so much bang for your buck these days, especially in the ultra-competitive entry-level and the mid-range segments of the market. TCL have played in this market in Australia for a while now and have become known for produce great looking phones at attractive prices.

TCL has announced the launch of two new smartphones into the Australian market including an entry-level TCL 20 SE and a sub-$500 5G smartphone, the TCL 20 5G.

“Following our successful launch of the TCL Mobile brand with our 10 Series range of smartphones, we looked to continue the strong momentum into 2021 by offering premium quality smartphone features to consumers that includes proprietary technology to bring our ‘Display Greatness’ mantra to life,” said David Vieira, Director of Product Marketing, South East Asia, TCL Communication.

“Our launch today is the start of an aggressive roadmap through the rest of 2021 and beyond, from new smartphones to tablets and wearables that we are excited to bring to Australia as the TCL brand cements itself as a high quality, high performance and affordable brand consumers can rely on.”

TCL 20 SE

The TCL 20 SE is designed for those who love to consume media on their devices but want a device that does not break the bank. The 6.82-inch V-notch display produces a 90% screen to body ratio thanks to small bezels and a 20.5:9 screen aspect ratio. The display includes SDR-to-HDR technology to enhance colour, contrast and clarity thanks to the NXTVISION technology — something that has helped it sit at the top of DxOMark’s display rankings with the TCL 20 Pro 5G.

To aid in media consumption TCL have also included floating windows to allow you to reply to messages or browse the web without interrupting the viewing. The SE also has a dual speaker system which are positioned so that they are not blocked by the users hands while holding the device.

Add in a 5,000mAh battery, and 18W fast charging you are all set for your media consumption throughout the day. The rear of the device also sports a quad camera setup (48MP/16MP + 5MP + 2MP + 2MP) and a fingerprint sensor while the front sports a dual camera slefie camera system to round out the value for money device.

TCL 20 5G

The TCL 20 5G is a slightly more expensive device but packs a punch with a 6.67-inch FHD+ display with HDR10 playback along with the SDR-to-HDR technology and accurate colour calibration for a great viewing experience.

It is powered by a Snapdragon 690 5G chipset, 6GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. The 5G is helped along by the 4,500mAh battery with its 18W charging so that you should never run out of power, even when on 5G.

The rear sports a triple rear camera setup (48MP + 8MP + 2MP) with 10x digital zoom but this time the fingerprint sensor is side mounted. An 8MP selfie camera rounds out the features on the $499 5G smartphone.

The TCL 20 5G available in Mist Gray & Placid Blue from Harvey Norman from the end of May while Officeworks will have it come June. The TCL 20 SE is also available from Officeworks in June in a Nuit Black colour.
