Now that’s a Barn Find – Carlos Sainz’ 1994 WRC Rally Car up for Auction

Hey Carlos Sainz Jnr, that Ferrari F1 team salary should be enough to stump up for your Dad’s iconic 1994 WRC ride. This Subaru Prodrive 555 Group A is up for auction at Lloyds.

Driven by Colin McRae and Carlos Sainz in it’s time, it was retired in 1996. Since then it had a couple of owners, made the circuits of some demonstration rally events – but then just ended up collecting dust in a barn.

“When we originally saw this car, it was a barn find with an estimated value of $15,000-$20,000. Today it’s had a wash and a check of its history, and it may well be worth more than $1 million,” said Lee Hames, Chief Operating Officer for Lloyds Auctions.

At one stage, the car had the L555REP number plates, celebrating Repsol’s sponsorship with Carlos Sainz and Subaru.

The Subi is fitted with the original 2.0 litre turbocharge engine and six speed manual.

“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own such a unique vehicle and we are honoured to pass it on to the new custodians,” continued Mr. Hames.

Iconic, this vehicle would fit well in any race car collection – and could fetch $1,000,000 if the bidding is right.
