Huawei launches MatePad 11 with 120Hz display and Harmony OS 2.0

Hot on the heels of their launch of a new Matebook range earlier this month, Huawei has followed up today with the launch of the Matepad 11 Tablet which is now available to buy in Australia.

Hardware

The Matepad 11 continues Huawei’s excellent reputation for design with a great looking tablet available in Matte Grey, but packs in some top end hardware.

The Matepad 11 highlights include a 10.95” display which supports DCI-P3 colour gamut and offers a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling, and the display is also certified by TÜV Rheinland to both emit low blue-light and also be flicker free.

Powered by a Qualcomm Snadpragon 865, the tablet also comes with 128 GB of on-board storage with an option to expand storage with microSD cards up to 1TB.

There’s front (8MP) and rear (13MP) cameras on board for snapping a shot if you need to, but it’s still lightweight at just 485 g.

WIth a big, bright, high-resolution display the tablet is perfect for watching media and with the quad-channel large-amplitude quad-speaker system on board it also delivers room filling audio when you need it.

Software

The tablet is one of their first to launch running Harmony OS 2.0 operating system, Huawei’s remixed version of Android without Google Play Services.

As part of their move to Harmony OS, Huawei has been building out the number of offerings in the Huawei App Gallery app store, with popular Australian graphic design app, Canva now available through the store.

Harmony OS 2.0 offers a lot of excellent features though when used alongside their Matebook laptops, with options like Multi-screen Collaboration and the ability to drag and drop files between the devices with ease.

For those using the tablet on its own though, a new Tablet Desktop has been brought in offering a clean, organised UI. The new desktop includes a bottom dock to quickly access frequently used apps, while new Service Widgets can be added anywhere on-screen giving you easy to see glanceable information updates.

Accessories

Any tablet launching these days tends to need some accessories, with modern tablets effectively able to operate as mini laptops. The Matepad 11 is no different with the second gen HUAWEI M-Pencil and Smart Magnetic Keyboard.

The Magnetic Keyboard atttaches to the rear of the tablet magnetically and offers a convenient way to stand the tablet up for easy viewing while typing or just watching a video on that big, gorgeous screen.

The Huawei M-Pencil (2nd Generation) is inspired by the clear case back design of luxury watches says Huawei, with the new transparent tip showcasing the inner workings of the stylus. The updated stylus also now features a new platinum-coated pen nib, ultra-low latency and support for 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity

The M-Pencil can pair quickly with the tablet, and also has low input latency as low as 2ms which allows for more natural and responsive control while using it.

Availability

Speaking on the launch of the tablet, Larking Huang, Managing Director of Australia, Huawei Consumer BG, said,

The most exciting thing we can do is create innovative technology that people love, and the launch of the HUAWEI MatePad 11 is just that. The versatile tablet, running on HarmonyOS, will bring value and synergy to our Australian customers.

At Huawei, we are committed to bringing the biggest and best apps and services to our AppGallery, so with our collaboration with Canva, we will enable our customers with industry-leading graphic tools to bring creative expressions to life both freely and passionately

The Matepad 11 is now available to purchase online through Huawei’s Australian website, the Huawei Experience Store and MobileCiti, and while it comes with a Huawei M-Pencil stylus now, the Black Friday deal – which runs from 22 November – 1 December – is better with a Huawei branded Smart Magnetic Keyboard worth $239 also being included.

It’s a heck of a deal if you’re on the lookout for a new tablet, so head over to the Huawei website to check it out.
