LG tiiun – sprout your own veges or herbs with this indoor garden appliance

Look, some quirky things hit the show floor in Las Vegas, and LG seems to be looking to be a part of that quirky atmosphere with a product aimed squarely at apartment living. The LG tiiun – which means “to Sprout” in Korean is just that, made for sprouting.

Perhaps designed with the local high density living in mind which is a core of Korean society, there’s more and more apartments all around the place, so perhaps if it comes to Australia it will find a market.

But, for now it’s a reveal, with no certainty of availability or price here in Australia.

Think Wine fridge, but for growing herbs. This little appliance allows two shelves with up to six all-in-one seed packaged which have ten holes each for germination.

Basically, it’s an automated garden.

Growing herbs, reaching in to grab some and add to your cooking – sounds completely normal.

The Seeds are watered eight times every 24 hours, and the temperature and light inside mimics the natural cycle of the day.

Of course – best of all – the air-tight seal means no bugs or nastys get onto your plants.

“LG tiiun is a practical and convenient solution for busy consumers who want to enjoy a green space and more sustainable living at home,” said Lyu Jae-cheol, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company.

“A stylish addition to one’s home or apartment, our smart gardening system makes growing herbs, leafy greens and flowers fun and simple, even for those of us with zero gardening experience.”

We’ll check it out for you at CES in January.

EFTM’s coverage of CES 2022 is supported by Intel, Vodafone, LG, Samsung and Hisense
