While we’ve been able to watch Movies, TV shows and some Foxtel live sport in 4K, the world of streaming sport hasn’t really been at that level – until now.
Stan Sport has announced the UEFA Champions League finals will be broadcast in 4K on their platform on supported devices.
That kicks off with Man City v Atletico on Wednesday, before Chelsea and Real Madrid on Thursday.
The 4K stream is a “landmark first” for Australian Streaming, with Kayo Sports not looking likely to offer 4K in 2022 (EFTM predicts that will come in 2023 when Foxtel has more features and can drop the “only on Foxtel in 4K slogan”).
4K content will be both live and on-demand for the entire UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League finals series.
There’s no additional cost either, with the 4K matches coming as part of the $10 Stan Sport add on – as long as you have a 4K Capable device.
Stan’s Director of Sport Ben Kimber said: “The addition of 4K Ultra HD streaming means Australia’s best sports streaming service just got even better. We are proud to be leading the way as the first streaming service in Australia to offer live 4K sport, and providing the best way for football fans to watch the game they love.”
