You can now add election themed stickers including a Democracy Sausage to your Instagram Stories

After a successful run with stickers in 2019, Meta has followed up with a set of three new stickers for the upcoming federal Election.

To coincide with the opening of early voting today, the stickers will be available until Election Day on May 21st.

You can choose between three designs created by Australian artist and designer Frida Las Vegas (aka Stavroula Adameitis), including a Democracy Sausage, ‘Have your say’ shaka or an Australian Snack sticker telling your followers to ‘Make your Choice’ featuring a pie and Iced Vovo.

They won’t just be pretty stickers though, with Instagram’s parent company, Meta, saying the stickers will be linked to the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) website offering ‘credible information about the voting process’ .

Tom Rogers, Australian Electoral Commissioner said,

We’ve been working closely with Meta in the lead up to, and during, the 2022 federal election. We’re very excited to see Australians using election-themed Instagram stickers and other Meta initiatives as a way to express positivity and pride about participating in Australian democracy.”

You can start adding the Federal Election themed stickers to your Instagram story from today. To add one of the new stickers to your Instagram Story simply follow these steps:

  1. Open the Stories camera and take a photo
  2. Tap on the Sticker Tray icon
  3. Tap on the desired Sticker
  4. Once the sticker is on your photo, you may tap it for additional options. With each tap, the Stickers will rotate between three different iconic Aussie images, including the Democracy Sausage.

All three stickers will be visible at the top of the Instagram Stories Sticker Tray on 9th May
