Logitech MX Mechanical keyboard review – absolute perfection

Mechanical keyboards are all the rage right now, but if you’re like me and there are a few in the house they can also be a bit annoying – that loud typing can be a bit much. Stop the presses, we’ve been testing the new Logitech MX Mechanical keyboard and it ticks boxes and solves problems.

Firstly, it’s quiet – well, we’ve been sent the “tactile quiet” version, there are others, but this is the one I recommend.

I’ve been using Logitech Keyboards for some time, their MX Master and Mac keyboards are sensational.

But what this gives is that old school feeling – instead of a soft button, its got a click and a feel to it.

On the MX Mechanical, full size (there’s also a Mini version for $40 less that has now arrows or number pad) – you get an easy to touch set of keys that give you a very clear feeling of being pressed.

Tapping away on these very words is utterly satisfying, I don’t think I can go back to something soft and quiet.

But this is quiet, and that’s what makes it perfect. The sensation of a mechanical keyboard, but without the tapping noise to drive you and your family mad – let alone other people at your office.

It has Logitechs solid USB connectivity for wireless use, but also the simple but effective Logitech 3 Bluetooth options. Pair the one keyboard with three devices, and flick between them with the mechanically feeling touch of a button.

The keys feel soft to touch weirdly, like they aren’t a glossy plastic, feels far more premium, and frankly that premium feeling is critical if you are wanting to justify the $269.95 price tag.

Sorry Logitech, you aren’t getting this one back. I love it too much. Here’s hoping my wife doesn’t come to the office and use it – because she will want one – she loves the mechanical feeling, but I think would opt for the quieter touch.

One of these with rainbow lighting might tip her over the edge too. Perhaps another model.

The MX Mechanical comes into stores this month, but right now you can by the Logitech MX Mechanical keyboard now from Logitech – you’re looking at $269.95 – not cheap, but worth it.
