MG launch the new ZS EV, still Australia’s most affordable EV

Earlier this year we signalled the launch of the new MG ZS into Australia and today MG Motor Australia has announced the availability of it here in Australia. At the same time the MG ZS EV maintains its status as Australia’s most affordable electric vehicle with a drive away price starting at $44,990 drive away for the ‘Excite’ model, while the more premium ‘Essence’ is priced, starting at $48,990 drive away.

The new MG ZS exterior makeover includes a revised front fascia which MG say “more proudly pronounces ZS EV’s electric intentions” but at the same time it still includes the front-mounted charging port to allow for a more convenient charging cable connection. The mid-sized electric SUV also includes front and rear LED lighting clusters giving it a stunning look.

The MG ZS EV has new battery technology giving it an improved driving range of 320km on the WLTP cycle from the 263km from the 2021 model. Along with this improved range and new battery technology comes new on-board charging capabilities allowing you to charge the battery up to 80 percent in just 54 minutes.

The new 2022 ZS EV features a striking exterior makeover, complemented by new battery technology that delivers a superior driving range of 320km measured on the WLTP cycle – up from 263km of the 2021 model. New on-board charging capabilities means up to 80% charging time in as little as 54 minutes (based on a 50kW combined charging system (CCS)).

At the launch event Peter Ciao, CEO at MG Motor Australia & New Zealand said: “We have been successful in offering the Australian market unparalleled value and we are now entering a new phase of our growth with the new ZS EV. This is the first step in our new journey to an electric future that’s here today. While value will remain at the core of our product offering, value means different things to different people and we want to deliver that value to as many people as we can.”

The 7 year warranty included with the MG ZS EV offers peace of mind with the comprehensive warranty having no hidden exclusions and includes all electric and battery components and all 83 dealers across Australia trained to service and repair all products.

The new ZS EV also offers MG’s own app-based software, iSmart, allowing users to perform over-the-air updates, remote AC control and door locking, real-time navigation, ‘find my car’ parking lot search, live weather updates and stream audio from Amazon Music.

Both the ‘Excite’ and ‘Essence’ models come in a range of five colours: Brighton Blue Metallic, York White, Pebble Black, Sloane Silver Metallic and Diamond Red Metallic. For more information head on over to the MG ZS EV website.
