Following on from the successful launch of the OPPO Reno8 Lite 5G in June which we thought offered great bang for your buck when we reviewed it, OPPO has today announced that the Reno8 Pro 5G and the Reno8 5G will be available in Australia from tomorrow.
The Reno series has been widely successful for OPPO with it ranking first globally among the ‘New Age smartphone families’ after OPPO shipped more than 80 million Reno devices worldwide since it launched in 2019.
Both devices promise to be imaging powerhouses with dual Sony flagship sensors including a 32MP selfie camera and a 50MP IMX766 sensor on the rear. Along with high end camera sensors the Reno8 Pro 5G also includes the MariSilicon X imaging NPU that we have seen in their Find X5 series. The MariSilicon X NPU brings AI functionality for 4K Ultra Night Video and 4K Ultra HDR Video.
OPPO Australia’s Managing Director, Michael Tran said at the launch of the new devices: “Our OPPO Reno series is known for featuring impressive camera capabilities and unique designs. Ushering in our new generation, the Reno8 Pro 5G and Reno8 5G employ the latest camera innovations for Aussies to capture their best moments even in the most challenging lighting conditions.”
Unlike some of their competitors, OPPO include an AC charger in the box and in this case, an 80W SuperVOOC charger allowing users to charge their battery to 50 percent in just ten minutes and fully in a tick over 30 minutes. 80W charging means that you can use the phone to its fullest extent knowing that if it runs low, you can just plug it in for a few minutes to give you hours of use.
Both phones feature high refresh rate AMOLED displays promising the deepest blacks and colours that pop. The displays are surrounded by a unibody design giving the rear camera a streamlined appearance and a smooth feeling in the hand.
The Reno8 Pro 5G is available in Glazed Green and Glazed Black colour variants from tomorrow for RRP $1,199 at JB Hi-Fi while the Reno8 5G will be available tomorrow from JB Hi-Fi, OfficeWorks, Harvey Norman and Woolworths Mobile for $999. We will have these in hand soon to pass on our opinions of them to you.
