Samsung announce their 2023 monitor range featuring new Odyssey, Smart Monitor and ViewFinity options

Ahead of the main show of CES, Samsung has unveiled their new range of 2023 monitors with new Odyssey, Smart and ViewFinity lines.

The Samsung 2023 range of monitors includes some fantastic additions for gamers including the worlds first dual UHD gaming monitor, as well as the latest Odyssey OLED G9. There’s also an update to Samsung’s M8 Smart monitor range with a new 27-inch size and a new 5K resolution ViewFinity model for creative professionals.

Jeremy Senior, Vice-President- Consumer Electronics, Samsung Australia said of the new Samsung monitor line-up
“Samsung continues to lead display innovation in the market by offering gamers and professionals monitor designs that put their individual needs first. From large curved screens and fast refresh rates, to ultra-high definition resolution and the ability to multitask during game play – and even switching over to TV streaming content when they need a break. We provide immersive and lifelike experiences for every lifestyle and passion.”

Odyssey Neo G9

At 57-inch in size, the new Odyssey Neo G9 (G95NC) offers a massive display for gamers with the worlds first dual UHD gaming monitor with 7,680×2,160 resolution and a 32:9 aspect ratio with a blazing fast 240Hz refresh rate.

The monitor features a 1000R curve and includes their quantum mini LED technology with VESA Display HDR 1000 specification with a matte finish to reduce light reflection on the display and minimising distractions.

The Odyssey Neo G8 features the world’s first DisplayPort 2.1 support, offering data transfer speeds twice as fast as the older DisplayPort 1.4 connections. DisplayPort 2.1 also offers lossless ‘industry-standard Display Stream Compression (DSC) to transmit information without distortion’, says Samsung.

Odyssey OLED G9

Samsung are also adding to their Odyssey OLED gaming monitor range with the new 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SC).

The Odyssey OLED G9 features a dual quad-HD 49” 1800R curved display, with a 32:9 ratio and uses Samsung’s quantum dot technology OLED lighting which allows pixel-by-pixel control and illuminates each pixel separately without relying on a backlight with up to 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.

The monitor has a super-fast 0.1ms response time and 240Hz refresh rate which means you won’t see lagging and skipping when gaming.

As a bonus, the Odyssey OLED G9 includes the Samsung Smart Hub for down-time which includes apps from partners like Prime Video, Netflix and YouTube, so you can enjoy content without a PC.

Smart Monitor M8

The Samsung Smart Monitor M8 has been a fantastic addition to their monitor range, offering the ability to use a suite of apps without a PC. The new Smart Monitor M8 now includes a new 27” size with 4K resolution in addition to the existing 32” Smart Monitor M8.

The Samsung Smart Monitor M8 includes a height-adjustable stand with tilt support, allowing users to position the monitor where they are most comfortable, as well as offering pivot support up to 90-degrees so you can view long documents with less scrolling.

The Smart Monitor M8 will again include a remote control for navigating the Samsung Smart Hub interface which includes apps like Amazon Prime Video, Neftlix and YouTube, but has added mouse control for more convenient control. There’s also a new standby mode which will show photos, calendar and more from your Bluetooth connected smartphone when you’re in range.

Samsung has also included the Smart Things Hub this year, allowing you to control and manage all your connected devices through the built-in SmartThings Hub, including lights, cameras, doorbells, locks, thermostats, and more. Samsung will also be extending Matter functionality and Home Connectivity Alliance standards moving forward.

The Smart Monitor M8 also includes an integrated SlimFit camera which has been upgraded to 2K resolution and works with video conferencing apps such as Google Meet.

ViewFinity S9

Samsung is also adding a new ViewFinity monitor to their range, with the new ViewFinity S9 ( S90PC) which has been optimised for creative professionals.

The new 27-inch display has a matte coating for less distractions and offers an amazing 5K (5,120 x 2,880) resolution which is perfect for graphic designers and photographers and offers wide colour gamut support up to 99% DCI-P3 to provide crisp and colour accurate  details with an average Delta E ≦ 2.
