You can now follow the Sydney Ferries on Google Street View

In May last year Google announced that they were working on bringing the Sydney Ferries to Google Street View in late 2022. It’s not quite 2022 but today, only a couple of weeks late, Google, in partnership with Transport for NSW and Sydney ferries operator Transdev, is launching the new Street View feature to the world.

Google has mapped out a lot of Australia’s iconic cultural landmarks in recent years including the whale sharks on Ningaloo Reef, the migration of the crabs on Christmas Island, Kakadu National Park, and the Sydney Opera House. After riding all of the ferries with the Street View wearable backpack Google has mapped out the various Sydney Ferry routes along with the views from them including Luna Park, Kirribilli House and more.

Now that the Street View journey on the Sydney Ferries is live you can “ride the ferries” without actually being in Sydney. This special Street View collect includes a tour of the ferries docked at Circular Quay and a trip across Sydney Harbour on the Manly and Taronga Zoo ferries. You can check these out on desktop or mobile but for a quick shortcut Google has prepared their favourite views for you:

Transdev Sydney Ferries General Manager Customer Experience and Communications Joana Feiteira said “These two routes will allow people in Australia and around the world to take a virtual tour of our iconic Sydney ferries, rewarding them with spectacular harbour views, as well as showing them the acclaimed “best office in the world” with exclusive access to the wheelhouse.”

If you cannot visit the iconic Sydney Harbour in person, you can now head on over to Google Street View to check it out for yourself until you can.
