F1 TV on Foxtel begins rolling out on IQ4 and IQ5 Devices – Formula 1 Fans, get it ready!

After a bit of a false start to the season, it appears Foxtel is ready to go all-in on F1 with the addition of F1 TV subscriptions to their Foxtel Sports pack subscribers available ahead of next weekends Australian Formula One Grand Prix.

In testing during the first two races of the season, fans have been wondering where this promised “app integration” would be, and if the emails and text messages I’ve been receiving are any indication – it seems the F1 TV app is rolling out right now.

A Foxtel Spokesperson told EFTM “We can confirm F1TV app integration has commenced on compatible devices ahead of the Australian Grand Prix next weekend. The app will provide an even richer experience for Foxtel customers with access to multiple live in-race feeds, comprehensive live timing data, highlights and exclusive programming on and off the track.”

On my IQ5 Box I was a new app called F1 in the “App” tab, and launching it presented me with a quick guide on how to setup F1 TV

Basically, this is a process where you link and F1 account to your Foxtel account. So before you get started, make sure you know your Foxtel online account login details. If you don’t already have an F1 account you will be prompted to create one, if you have one you can simply sign in.

Once you do that, you then head over to Foxtel to sign in and sync the two together.

After you have a successful sync message on your browser, return to your IQ box and proceed to “Sign In”.

This is one of those painful type with arrows on a remote situations, but – it’s a one time deal so that’s life.

Once you do that, you’re good to go!

At first, because there’s no live events on, of course it’s pretty much all on demand content. Highlights from previous seasons, the documentary content that F1 has been making and that kind of thing.

It will be a whole different world when the live race is on, but we’ll have to wait a few races to check that out, as we’ll be trackside at Albert Park with the family.

Plus, in addition to the content on your IQ box, you can use your phone or tablet to view the same content in the F1 TV app. So get that one downloaded and signed in too!

Here’s to a smooth first race for F1 TV and Foxtel, let us know what you think of it after the race, and share photos of your race view with us on Twitter – @TrevorLong and @EFTM
