OPPO have announced their latest A-Series handset is arriving in Australia today with the launch of the OPPO A78.

The handset will be available from today for $359 with a sleek design in two colour optionsP: Glowing Black, and Glowing Blue. The OPPO Glow is a process that is applied to the backplate which OPPO says creates ‘a shimmering look with a fingerprint-free matte finish’.

Hardware wise, the phone brings great features including a 5,000mAh battery with 33W SuperVOOC charging and a 50MP main camera sensor.

The phone is powered by an octa-core Mediatek Dimensity 700 processor, with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of on-board storage which can be bolstered with a microSD card up to 1TB in size. There’s a large 6.56-inch Colour-Rich Display with 90Hz high refresh rate on the front with a tear-drop notch for the selfie camera.

The 50MP main camera sensor on the rear is paired with a 2MP Black & White sensor with depth sensing for improved bokeh effects on selfies. This camera setup supports OPPO Ultra-Clear Image, which uses software algorithms to increase the resolution of images to 108MP which OPPO says provides an impressive level of clarity’.There’s also an 8MP camera on the front for taking selfies.

The phone runs on ColorOS 13 based on Android 13, with the OPPO software providing users with an efficient and secure OS packed full of features including FlexDrop for more efficient multitasking and Three-Finger Translate with Google Lens to translate text in the chosen area of a screenshot.

The A78 5G is OPPO’s latest entry-level game changer. We’ve designed a device that seamlessly combines cutting-edge hardware and software to provide Australians with a phone that’s as reliable as it is stylish. With 33W SUPERVOOC, 50MP camera, and ColorOS 13, the A78 5G is not only economical but also feature-rich. At OPPO, we believe that technology should be accessible to all, and the A78 5G is our latest contribution to that mission,” said OPPO Australia’s Managing Director, Michael Tran.
