EFTM BEST AWARDS 2023: BEST ELECTRIC SUV

I think anyone driving the streets of Australian capital cities will be used to seeing many a Tesla Model 3, even a Model Y on every corner.  But the BYD Atto 3 has been pushing strong on Tesla’s coat-tails, making a name for itself and building a base for a strong future for BYD in Australia.

Full declaration, we didn’t do Awards last year, and the Atto 3 is really a car for last year, but it’s impossible to overlook here – when you look at the Model Y (Strong seller, but ugly as all hell), the Mustang Mach-E (nice design, but pricey for what it is) and perhaps the offerings from Kia and Hyundai, I frankly can’t think of a better buy than the BYD Atto 3.

Under $50,000 on the road, this is the absolute perfect start for anyone’s EV journey.

Cheaper than that would be the BYD Dolphin and the MG4 – but I’ll call them hatchbacks for the purposes of this award, because that’s what they are.

If someone asked me which EV to buy, and it turned out they wanted something with a bit of space, and riding higher than your average car – The BYD Atto 3 would be the easy immediate choice for me.  Offering a more traditional interior though still fancy and a bit different, and still with more tech than the average car today.

Easy choice for us, the 2023 EFTM BEST award for BEST ELECTRIC SUV is the BYD Atto 3.
