Garmin adds new Lily 2 smartwatch, clip-on heart-rate monitor and updates Connect app

Fitness focused company Garmin have unveiled their CES 2024 announcements with a new smartwatch, as well as a strap-on heart-rate monitor and updates to their Garmin Connect app.

Lily 2

The Lily 2 smartwatch is aimed at users who prefer their smartwatch to be ‘petite and fashionable’, while still offering all the health, wellness and connected features of the Garmin ecosystem.

The Lily 2 will be available in two models, the Lily 2 and Lily 2 classic. The Lily 2 Classic appears to be a slightly more premium option, with support for Garmin Pay contactless payments and from the specs, it appears to have a very slightly larger case.

The Lily 2 and Lily 2 Classic have a metal case, which comes in a range of colour options including Cream Gold and Coconut or Dark Bronze and Mulberry, with a range of Italian leather, nylon or silicone bands to choose from.

Both watches include a  hidden OLED display with unique patterned lenses and a battery that will last up to 5-days, says Garmin, while still including all the smart features you know and love including:
Body Battery energy monitoring: Monitor energy levels throughout the day to help find the best times for activity and rest.

  • Sleep score: Receive a score for last night’s sleep quality, plus insights on how to do better. Also keep track of different sleep stages, heart rate, stress, Pulse Ox and respiration.
  • Fitness tracking: Keep track of steps, calories burned, intensity minutes and more.
  • Sports apps: Switch up a workout with built-in sports apps for cardio, yoga, strength training and more. And use the new dance fitness activity to track various dance styles, including Zumba, Afrobeat, Bollywood, EDM and hip-hop.
  • Connected GPS: When walking, biking or running outdoors, connect to a compatible smartphone’s GPS to get accurate activity tracking stats.
  • Move alert suggestions: Receive reminders to move after being sedentary for a while and get a variety of suggested movements to try, like neck rolls, side bends, squats and more with options for seated motions.
  • Garmin Pay contactless payments: Breeze through select checkout lines and transit systems through participating providers (available only on Lily 2 Classic smartwatches)

The Lily 2 is on-sale from today for $429 AUD, while the Lily 2 Classic is selling for $469 AUD.

HRM Fit

The Garmin announcements at CES 2024 are very much geared towards women, with the HRM-Fit announced as clip-on device designed to clip on to medium and high-support sports bras.

The clip-on monitor includes a clip on either end to ensure the monitor remains centred – allowing for more effective monitoring while exercising, even when doing high intensity workouts including running, indoor and outdoor cycling, strength training, HIIT and more.

The HRM-Fit syncs with the Garmin Connect app on your Android or iOS smartphone to track the date, as well as providing access to features including

  • Connectivity: Transmit accurate, real-time heart rate and performance data to compatible Garmin smartwatches and Edge cycling computers, compatible fitness equipment, the Tacx Training app and more.
  • Training options: Capture accurate heart rate data for a variety of activities, including running, indoor and outdoor cycling, strength training, HIIT, fitness classes and more. Plus, if an athlete takes off their compatible smartwatch and leaves it out of range, the HRM-Fit will store the workout data, then send it to the watch once the monitor is back in range of the watch.
  • Indoor running: See pace and distance on a compatible Garmin smartwatch when doing an indoor track or treadmill workout.
  • Activity tracking: If an athlete isn’t wearing their smartwatch, HRM-Fit captures steps, calories burned, intensity minutes and all-day heart rate. It will even update all compatible Garmin devices via the Garmin Connect smartphone app.
  • Running dynamics: Receive running dynamics, including ground contact time balance, cadence, stride length and more – when paired to a compatible Garmin smartwatch – to help improve form

You can order the HRM-Fit directly from Garmin today from $249 AUD.

Garmin Connect

With new devices, and a new year stretching ahead, Garmin have announced a redesign for the Garmin Connect app and website coming soon.

The new design offers a simplified interface, with a personalised homepage which focuses on your health and fitness metrics and lets you track your personal goals.

With this new refresh, we are excited to bring a simplified design and more relevant insights to each customer to inform and inspire them as they continue to conquer their goals.” –

The updated Garmin Connect experience is available today in Beta, with Garmin expected to roll out the experience to the app and website later this year.
