Google is integrating EV battery level into Google Maps and bringing more apps to your Android connected car

Google has today announced that they will be bringing more apps and partnerships to cars with Android Auto and cars with Google built-in.

EVs are taking off in Australia (finally) and those with Android Auto will now be able to share real-time battery information with Google Maps. This will allow Google Maps to provide an estimation of the battery capacity left when you finally arrive at your destination. Based on this information Google Maps will suggest stops, if required, for charging along your journey and tell you how long the charging will take based on your car.

Users with cars with Google built-in will also be able to send trips you’ve planned on Google Maps on your smartphone directly to your car to help you get your journey started.

Google built-in users will also now be able to install a lot more apps including PBS Kids, Crunchyroll, The Weather Channel and for select Polestar and Volvo cars, Chrome browser. The Chrome browser will only be available to use while the car is parked. The Weather Channel will be able to provide you and your car with notifications on changing weather conditions, hourly forecasts and “Trip View” radar.

Google has also announced that Google built-in will be rolling out to more cars including some from Nissan, Ford, Lincoln and Porsche in the future. Digital key availability will also expand with it rolling out to select Volvo cars soon and more phones and car manufacturers in the future.
