High resolution renders leak of Pixel 8a in four colours

The annual Google I/O developer conference is fast approaching, and while we expect to see the latest developments in Android, Chrome and of course AI, we’re also expecting hardware with the Pixel 8a top of the list. The upcoming budget range phone has leaked in an array of new high-resolution renders showing off the phone in a range of colours.

Courtesy of AndroidHeadlines, the Pixel 8a has been shown off in four colours: Bay (Blue), Mint (Green), Porcelain (White) and Obsidian (Black), mirroring the current colour choices being offered by Google for the Pixel 8 Pro.

The physical design of the phone is similar to the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, though the camera bar is expected to looks slightly differnt  on the rumoured trio of upcoming Pixel 9 phones expected to be announced later this year.

In terms of specs, the Pixel 8a is expected to use the Tensor G3 processor launched with the Pixel 8 phones last year, and come with 8GB of RAM and start at 128GB of on-board storage. The phone is expected to include a 6.1″ FHD resolution display capable of up to 90Hz refresh rate and come with a large 4,500mAh battery that supports 20W wired, and 7.5W wireless charging.

If previous Pixel phones are anything to go by, photography will be important with a 64MP main sensor and 13MP Ultrawide sensor rumoured for the rear of the phone.

The phone is expected to launch with Android 14, with an Android 15 update to come as soon as it’s officially released, and if the Pixel 8 series is anything to go by, we expect to see seven years worth of updates.

At this stage, Google hasn’t officially acknowledged the Pixel 8a, though given their previous history of showing off phones before announcement, that could change in the lead-up to Google I/O. We’ll have all the details on the Pixel 8a as soon as they’re announced, hopefully on May 15th.
