The next Chinese electric car brand coming to Australia: ZEEKR

Fancy an electric people mover with more than 800km of claimed driving range? This could be for you.

One of China’s fastest-growing electric-car brands ZEEKR – owned by the giant Geely conglomerate which also owns Swedish brand Volvo and its Chinese offshoot Polestar – is coming to Australia, the company has confirmed.

One of the first cars that will be introduced in Australia is the ZEEKR 009 (a six- or seven-seater despite the name) which promises to reset the benchmark for electric driving range in a people mover.

Despite its crazy Rolls-Royce inspired design, think of it as an electric Kia Carnival.

A representative for ZEEKR Australia has confirmed to EFTM the company will launch two new models by the end of this year: the ZEEKR X electric SUV and the ZEEKR 009 people mover.

While ZEEKR is yet to appoint a dealer network locally, it has already started hiring top-level executives.

The ZEEKR Australia head of marketing is Andrew Haurissa, who recently made the switch after helping restart Chinese brand Chery in Australia in his role as marketing director.

While prices and exact specifications for ZEEKR models sold in Australia are yet to be confirmed, this is what we have pulled together so far based on information out of Europe.

The claimed stats on the cars are as follows:

  • Maximum driving range: Up to 400km
  • Price: ,000 (estimated based on European pricing)
