LEAKED: Motorola RAZR 50 Ultra set to stun in 2024 with an improvement on an already great flip phone

Last year my favourite phone of the year was the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra. I liked it so much I went out and bought one. Motorola are looking to improve on it this year with the RAZR 50 Ultra according to leaks that have surfaced in recent days.

According to leaks from various sources (1,2,3,4) this year’s RAZR 50 flagship foldable flip phone will see significant bumps in specs in areas of importance to everyone including cameras and CPU chipset.

Let’s start with the outside of the phone with the cover display this time a significantly bigger 4-inch POLED display (3.6-inch last year) with a dual camera setup once again. This time, instead of the acceptable 12MP and 13MP combination, Motorola will be including a dual 50MP camera setup which will hopefully best last year’s effort which was good but not great.

Inside the phone is a 32MP selfie camera which is the same resolution as last year but we don’t know the actual specs of it just yet so it could still be improved. The internal display will be a 6.9-inch POLED display again with the same resolution of 1080 x 2640. The refresh rate gets a bump from 144Hz to 165Hz.

The big news is with the chipset with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 of last year being bumped to the more recent Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC. Paired with the new chipset will be 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, neither of which are ground breaking.

The battery will be a bigger 4,000mAh in size with the wired charging bumped to support 45W charging. There is no word on wireless charging at this stage but I loved its inclusion in the RAZR 40 Ultra.

There is no word on the hinge just yet but when it was released it was the smallest bump/dip in any foldable on the market but OPPO improved on that with their OPPO Find N3 so it will be interesting to see if Motorola has an improvement with their hinge up their sleeve.

At the same time we saw some RAZR 50 specs leak as well and it also gets a bump in the external main camera along with a new MediaTek Dimensity 7300X SoC. The other specs can be seen below.

Last year we saw the Motorola RAZR 40 devices announced early June so we expect to see something from Motorola in the coming weeks. Stay tuned to EFTM to get all the information on the Motorola RAZR 50 flip phones, including local availability, as soon as it comes to hand.
