Panasonic Multishape review – the ultimate trimmer and shaver at home and on-the-go

I’ve used and reviewed any number of beard trimmers, shavers and even electric toothbrushes over the years, and while some of them are multi-purpose none of them really tick all the boxes as closely as the new Panasonic Multishape.

For some unknown reason over a decade ago I decided to be a short bearded man, not something lush and bushy, but instead that five-day-growth kinda look. As I get older, it has become more pointless as the greys hide the stubble, but still, I persist.

What this means is maintenance. Still easier than being clean shaven though, that’s something that needs daily work, this stubble look can be kept to weekly, or twice weekly, and not look too shabby.

So in our bathroom drawers are plenty of shavers, trimmers and combinations of both – but over the years I’ve ended up just using a basic beard trimmer, running it without a guard to just trim to 0 the neck, and then I have a separate nose hair trimmer.

Enter the Panasonic Multishape and with all the attachments we’ve got a beard trimmer, nose trimmer, shaver head and even a toothbrush.

The base controller – at $299, which is basically a motor, does come with a beard/hair trimmer, but its quite big – more of a crew-cut hair trimmer. So the $99 beard trimmer is a must I think

For you get the ear/nose hair trimmer, and if you’re getting on in years – again – essential.

The 3 blade shaver is 9 and likewise is a must-have.

Those three alone make this a brilliant little kit to travel with, let alone make the at home shaver cabinet a whole lot cleaner.

For 6, it would want to be good. Frankly, hard to justify that price if we’re fair, but if you’re 40+ and look at your priorities, you’ll weigh this up as a win. Shop around though, there already looks to be some cracking deals out there to bring that price down.

With the Panasonic Multishape I have for the first time taken the trimmer with me on a trip. This means I’m trimmed and shaved on the right day I need to be, not just in the early part of the trip.

And all the other trimmers are being thrown away when I get home.

Reason is, this thing is great. Its light, small, but powerful. The beard trimmer has more adjustment levels than I’m used to and it’s a great dial and twist adjustment process.

Interchanging heads is easy with the touch of a button, the old one comes off, new one clips on.

That Three blade shaver is fantastic. I worried it would be a less than ideal option, but it performs as well as any electric shaver I’ve used.

For me though, the toothbrush head was a bridge too far. I’m happy to carry my regular toothbrush around frankly. Now one reason for that is, when I use an electric toothbrush, it’s the Oral-B “rotating” scrub style. This Panasonic toothbrush head is doing more of a Philips Sonicare style vibration, and I just don’t like that sensation. Personal opinion. If you were a Sonicare style brush user, this would literally replace your toothbrush, instantly.

These are the RRPs for the product and attachments, but I’ve already seen online some far better pricing:
