First Look: Olympic Edition Samsung Z Flip6 for every athlete at Paris 2024 and for Podium selfies!

If you’re looking for a unique phone, it doesn’t come much more special than this. Samsung has created a special-edition version of the Galaxy Z Flip6 device made exclusively for the Athletes at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The 14,850 Athletes will each receive the device when they arrive in Paris, and it’s ready to go.

It comes pre-loaded with an eSIM from Orange, the Number 1 telco network in France, as well as a tap-and-go card in the Samsung Wallet that works to get free Coca-Cola company drinks from Vending Machines in the Olympic and Paralympic Villages.

Samsung has pushed the boundaries of mobile technology in support of the Olympic and Paralympic Games and its athletes for nearly three decades,” said Stephanie Choi, EVP & Head of Marketing of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics. “We are honored to deliver our newest Galaxy innovation to the inspiring athletes of Paris 2024 — and give them the opportunity to experience the powerful and intelligent Galaxy Z Flip6 firsthand, even before its official market launch. We are excited to see how our technology opens up athletes’ Games-time experience like never before — from creating meaningful connections, to sharing and capturing lifelong memories while in Paris and beyond.”

EFTM got hands on with the Special Olympic Edition Z Flip6 today and it’s a cracking little unit. In the Yellow colour, but with the Olympic Rings and Paralympic agitos etched into the back it’s not something that can be mistaken for anything but the achievement of making the Games team.

Athletes will in fact be among the first in the world with a Z Flip 6, as they will start to receive the device before it’s official on-sale date.

In addition to the device, the Athletes will receive a Flipsuit case which has a specially designed Venezia leather insert with colours inspired by the Olympic Rings designed in partnership with Parisian Men’s Luxury brand Berluti.

Perhaps most notable for the Paris games is a huge change in protocol around the Victory Presentations. On the podium after the medal presentations, athletes will be given a Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition to take selfies – something never before allowed as personal belongings are banned on the Podium.

EFTM understands the phones will be borrowed for that purpose with Olympic Staff or Volunteers then tagging the photos into the Athlete 365 app which then allows the individuals to download and share as they choose.
