Optus Sport comes to Hubbl finally – getting closer to being an sports hub

Six months after the Foxtel Group’s new Hubbl device became a reality and they name dropped a bunch of apps, Today – Optus Sport is available on Hubbl devices.

Integrated into the Hubbl device operating system the Optus Sport app can be launched directly from the main home screen, but the content is also incorporated across the user-interface.

The “Sports” page on Hubbl now shows content from Kayo, Apple TV+, 9 and Optus Sport from what we saw when browsing.

Unfortunately, it does seem to overwhelmingly favour Kayo, given the Olympics is on right now you’d think the Stan Sport content would be deeply integrated or at least highlighted. This may be a factor in the agreement between Stan and Hubbl, or a technical limitation, but it does highlight the differences from one app to another.

It’s a big leap forward for Football fans, who can find far more live content on Optus Sport via their Hubbl.

Hubbl’s Dani Simpson says As we continue to roll out our pipeline of updates and innovation we’re excited to welcome the newest partner onboard, Optus Sport joining Hubbl now takes our sport offering to new heights.

“With increased convenience and content choice, customers will have unrivalled access to Australian and international sporting events across the platform.”

Howard Rees, Head of Optus Sport, said: “Hot on the heels of the successful live and exclusive broadcast of EURO 2024 and Copa América 2024, Optus Sport is now readying itself for the return of the Premier League, so we are excited to launch the Optus Sport app on Hubbl, which will provide Optus Sport subscribers with even more ways to enjoy the world’s best football.”

Update: in our testing, it does not appear you can subscribe to Optus Sport via Hubbl, nor via the Stack and Save options on Hubbl
