A thinner, affordable Samsung Galaxy A16 lands down under with a larger display

Samsung have announced their latest Galaxy device to land in Australia, with the new Samsung Galaxy A16 arriving in Australia as an affordable option bringing improvements to the Galaxy A series.

Priced from  $349, the Galaxy A16 adopts Samsung’s signature design language with linear camera lens layout and refined, rounded corners and a thinner design. The phone will be offered in only one colour, a stylish Blue Black and includes an IP54 dust and water resistance rating.

The Galaxy A16 includes an immersive experience thanks to the new, larger 6.7” Super AMOLED FHD+ resolution display which includes a 90Hz refresh rate and streamlined bezels to allow more display with less interruption. The AMOLED display offers true-to-life colours and sharp visuals for using the phone, watching videos, or just scrolling around the web. 

Powered by by an octa-core processor with 4GB of RAM, the phone includes smooth and flawless performance for high-quality videos, games, and multitasking says Samsung. There’s 128GB of on-board storage, but it also supports microSD cards so you can take all your memories with you. 

There’s all day battery life with a massive 5,000mAh battery, which supports fast charging up to 25W, giving you a chance to top up fast if you need to. 

Samsung’s photography nouse has been leveraged to include a class leading camera array for photography lovers, with a 50MP main sensor combined with a 5MP Ultra-Wide sensor and 2MP macro sensor. You also get a 13MP selfie camera on the front, nestled into a tear-drop notch in the display. 

The Galaxy A16 will run Android 14, with Samsung’s One UI offering improvements including Samsung Knox for security offering a place to protect private, personal data such as user passwords and secrets from hardware-based attacks including voltage glitches, temperature tampering, and laser interference. 

Samsung will keep the Galaxy A16 up to date too with 6 generations of One UI and Android OS updates, as well as 6 years of Samsung Security Maintenance Releases (SMR), keeping the device secure and up to date.
