Google brings standalone Gemini app to iOS, including Gemini Live

The world of AI and AI chatbots is exploding, and Google is making access to their Gemini AI chatbot even easier, with the launch of the Gemini app for iOS this week.

While you could previously access Gemini on iOS through the Google app, and on the web, you can now get it as a standalone app on the iOS app store

The Gemini app will accept text input in 35 languages, with the release also including Gemini Live, Google’s conversational chatbot AI, which you can speak to in 12 languages (with more coming soon).

The release of Gemini Live to iOS users is a big one, with Google first releasing access to the conversational chatbot as an exclusive on the Pixel 9 series, with more Android phones only just starting to get access to it – iOS users however, will have access to it from the get-go.

Gemini can perform a number of tasks, and help with your daily life, including being able to brainstorm ideas with you, generate images and text, as well as setting reminders, scheduling meetings, or composing emails.

Despite limitations on access to the system, Google says that Gemini can still connect with your favourite apps from Google, including jumping into YouTube when you ask Gemini about a video, your calendar when looking for or creating an event, and lots more.

AI is definitely heating up on the iPhone with the imminent release of Apple Intelligence, so if you want to try out Gemini, you can now with a full native app experience.
