Remember the magic of shadow puppets on the wall? Three “mompreneurs” (not a term I’ve come up with) have taken that simple concept that we have all played around with as kids and supercharged it into modern tech that was gaining plenty of attention at their booth at CES2025. I was able to meet Tikano, the story projector that’s turning bedtime into an adventure.
The motive behind Tikano – “We wanted something that would make storytime magical without turning our kids into tiny zombies glued to screens.,” said Laurene Altmeyer, one of Tikano’s creators. And they could well be on to something that we haven’t seen since glow-in-the-dark stars.
The projector displays crystal clear stories for bedtime in HD movie quality with the content carefully chose to be slow-paced, crafted to help kids dream and learn. A great little product that can make those bedtime stories even more interactive and encourage young minds to be imaginative without the danger of blue light emitting from other portable devices.
No word yet on Aussie availability but we will keep you posted on any news.

He started out as Australia’s Next Tech Blogger 2017 – winner of our competition to find the next tech talent and join the EFTM team at CES 2018! He’s since travelled with us several times, and now contributes when he can, and is the Captain of our team of moderators whom he has a tough job keeping on the straight and narrow. We wouldn’t be EFTM without Jolly.
