If you haven’t heard of a Thermomix you’ve been living under a rock. This kitchen appliance changed the landscape for multi-processors with every established brand rushing to compete and challenge this direct to consumer upstart.
The new TM7 Thermomix continues that push with an all-new black design and a staggering 10 inch colour touch-screen display! The previous model TM6 had a decent display and found it’s own following with over 8 million units sold around the world.
You can’t get a Thermomix at Harvey Norman though, you have to find a local “Consultant” – these people help you understand the product, help you set it up and learn it and they hold “parties” to educate more people, and get more sales.
That model is key to the company’s success, “Thermomix is the center of culinary experiences for many people – and we owe this above all to the close exchange with our community,” emphasizes Dr. Thomas Stoffmehl, Spokesman of the Executive Board of the Vorwerk Group. “More than 116,000 consultants worldwide – together with our customers and employees – are shaping our world’s largest direct sales community for high-quality household appliances.”
The new TM7 uses more sustainable production techniques and recycled materials while the company also talks about future innovations through software, almost the way a Tesla gets better with software upgrades, so might your Thermomix.
Somehow they are claiming an “open cooking” system without the lid on, I assume that’s when doing the “cooking” part of the process, not the blending:)
But at it’s core, it’s still a thermomix, able to chop, blend, cut and cook, all in one device – the real advance here seems to be the integration with online recipes at Cookidoo the Thermomix platform, which allows you to find a meal, and cook it step by step with just the Thermomix.
For those of us doing just the basics and not really deep into the recipe ecosystem, it seems likely the existing models will be just fine.
Start saving though, if you or the wife want one, they open pre-sales in April, and the price will be $2,649! Deliveries start in the second half of 2025.
