***UPDATE*** Official video. The OPPO Find N5 is coming soon — look for it to introduce the next evolution of foldable technology

The OPPO Find N3 released in Australia just over 12 months ago and here at EFTM we loved it.  Now rumours are swirling that the next foldable iteration from OPPO, likely the Find N4, is set to be announced and released in the next couple of months.

The Find N5 from OPPO is set to be the thinnest foldable smartphone on the market, coming in at just 4.2mm when open.  Even with such a thin footprint, the Find N5 is expected to arrive sporting an upgraded camera from the Find N3.

***UPDATE*** Official video from OPPO:

While the most expensive smartphone in the OPPO lineup, the Find N5 will not have the best camera specs—just as Google and Samsung have done with their latest foldable devices. However, the Find N5 camera setup will be no slouch. It is expected to house three 50MP cameras, including one with a periscope telephoto lens.

The displays will once again be impressive. The Find N5 has a massive 8-inch internal display with a crease that promises to be the smallest ever seen on a foldable device. OPPO has already shared a photo of the Find N5 side-by-side with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, and the difference in the crease is stark. Samsung has seemingly stopped innovating, and they really need to innovate, or they will be left even further behind.

A leak just today has shown that the crease has gone. Yes, disappeared. A totally flat display without a hint of a crease anywhere in sight. This is a huge leap in foldable technology, a true evolution. Check out the pictures above and see for yourself.

The Find N5 will be powered by the extremely powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of onboard storage.  The large 5,600 to 5,900 mAh battery will support both 80W wired fast charging and OPPO’s 50W wireless charging.

For those who take their phones near water a lot, the Find N5 will offer support for IPX6, IPX8, and IPX9 ratings with, unmatched by any other foldable, water resistance.  OPPO has actually released images of it being used underwater but that is something I will not be testing out should I manage to get my hands on a review unit (maybe OPPO will show us in person with their own device?).

So when is this exciting new foldable from OPPO coming? It is available for pre-order in China now. The announcement and availability are expected between February 18 and 20th AEDT. Australian availability is expected around the middle of the year.

Stay tuned to EFTM for the latest on all of its specs, which will be announced in just over a week.
