MacBook Air joins iPad and iPad Air with processor update to Apple’s M4 chip

When big laptop brands release new products they are almost always far more than just a chip change with new designs new innovation and fun features to sell the new generation. For Apple, it’s rare to see something all-new, instead the updates are almost always hidden on the inside. That’s the case with the new MacBook Air with M4.

Upgrading to the Apple Silicon M4 chip brings new performance and power, but also a few new capabilities.

As well as being a full two times faster than the M1 chip (A stat which shows where Apple might be aiming this as an upgrade), the MacBook Air continues to offer an oustanding, though no-longer industry leading 18 hours battery life on M4 MacBook Air.

One of the core new changes outside of the processor is the addition of Center Stage to the camera, allowing you to move the position of the camera view, as well as use “Desk View” to show people your desk to do demonstrations.

A BIG change for 2025 is the new “Sky Blue” colour, alongside Midnight, Starlight and Silver, this is a subtle metallic light blue and at least in photos, looks great.

The M4 Chip on board boasts a 10 Core CPU and up to 10 Core GPU as well as up to 32GB of unified memory.

Impressively, the new MacBook Air with M4 is $100 cheaper than the current M3 model, starting at $1,699. The larger 15 inch model is also cheaper, starting at $2,099.

Pre-Orders start today, and it’s on-sale March 12.
