Nothing is back with the Phone (3a) and the Phone (3a) Pro — two more mid-range killers

Nothing made a big splash in Australia last year with the Phone 2 and the Phone 2a. Tonight, they announced the successors to these phones with the unveiling of the Phone (3a) and the Phone (3a) Pro.

The new Phone (3a) series is set to bring even more advanced features to the midrange, including a new triple-camera system, a Snapdragon processor, and a more responsive display.

Once again, they are wrapped in unique designs that truly set them apart from all other smartphones on the market. Upgraded glass rear panels allow visualisation of the new, more symmetrical internal structure and refined visual details and lighting elements. The series also includes an IP64 rating, showing off its added durability and dust and water protection.

The Phone (3a) series features an upgraded 50MP main camera, a Sony ultra-wide camera, and optical zoom—a first for Nothing. Not to be left behind, Nothing has also included AI processing and computational algorithms to deliver high-quality photographic detail.

Both phones in the series include a telephoto lens, with the Phone (3a) featuring a 50MP sensor with a 50mm equivalent focal length and 2x optical zoom. It uses AI-clarity-enhancing algorithms for zoom of up to 30x. The Phone (3a) Pro’s 50MP telephoto lens includes periscopic zoom and up to 3x optical zoom, resulting in excellent zoom quality. It also includes optical image stabilisation to capture quality images across a range of lighting conditions.

The Phone (3a) includes a 32MP selfie camera while the Phone (3a) Pro houses a 50MP selfie camera and is capable of recording 4k video.

The Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro’s displays are large 6.77-inch FHD+ displays with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 3000 nits.

The Nothing Phone (3a) series phones are powered by Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipsets, enabling powerful performance when combined with the Nothing OS optimisations and the ability to perform AI tasks much faster.

Both phones include 5,000mAh batteries and charge using their fast charging of 50W.

Software-wise, the Nothing OS has been updated to version 3.1, built on Android 15, with new levels of personalisation and optimisation making the smartphone experience fluid and seamless.

Nothing now has their own AI space called Essential Space — a new AI-powered hub for notes, ideas and more with the AI able to capture, process and remember anything you do in there. Nothing has also made it easy to launch into Essential Space with a dedicated Essential Key on the right-hand side of the phones.

A full list of specifications and features can be found on Nothing (Australia).
