Telcos, Meta and Twitter in the top ten least trusted brands in Australia

You’ll see the headlines about Australia’s most trusted brands, and for the sixth quarter in a row Bunnings has topped that list while Aldi bucks the trend of Supermarkets to take the second spot in the most Trusted brand list. However, when it comes to lack of trust, or as Roy Morgan research call it “Distrust”, there’s some worrying signs for tech brands.

Top 10 most Trusted Brands

While Woolies and Coles top the list of Distrusted brands, Optus takes third place – likely a continued flow on from their data breach and network outages in recent years.

It’s not a lonely telco space though, because Telstra is also in that top 10 list – taking 6th space among the most Distrusted Brands.

Shopping site Temu has a bad reputation, in at 7th, while Elon’s Twitter is in 8th. Elon has issues bigger than that with Tesla entering the top ten most distrusted brands too.

Top 10 most Distrusted Brands

Unsurprisingly Meta – parent company of Facebook and Instagram – is 4th on the list of Distrusted brands, and given their penchant for deleting and deactivating user accounts and business pages, as well as allowing the promotion of scams on their platform – it’s hardly surprising.

Apple is about the only good story in this whole Roy Morgan research report, sitting steady as the 4th most trusted brand in Australia.
