WHOOP 5.0 and WHOOP MG are here, offering health and performance optimisation for anyone and everyone

The new versions of WHOOP are here, and WHOOP is no longer just for elite athletes; it is a new approach from WHOOP that now offers something for everyone.

Overnight, WHOOP announced its two next-gen wearables, the WHOOP 5.0 and WHOOP MG, designed to bring personal health, longevity tracking, and performance optimisation to everyone.

The new WHOOP platforms arrive with new hardware that offers a 14-day battery life in a smaller form factor. New features included Healthspan with WHOOP Age, Heart Screener with on-demand ECG (coming soon), and Blood Pressure Insights.

The new platforms convert your health data into personal guidance to extend your healthspan and lifespan – and that’s before we even get into the health and performance optimisation.

“This isn’t just a product launch. It’s a new chapter for WHOOP and for our members.  Weʼve taken everything weʼve learned over the past decade and built a platform to help our members perform and live at their peak for longer. Weʼve held nothing back.ˮ

– Will Ahmed, WHOOP Founder & CEO.

New features

WHOOP has introduced a suite of new features designed to accommodate the needs of everyday people, not just your active folks and elite athletes.  The new features include:

  • Healthspan with WHOOP Age. This new feature provides insights and guidance on how your daily habits affect your long-term health. It can quantify your physiological age and help you slow your pace of aging (although the horse may have well and truly bolted in my case).
  • Heart Screener with ECG.   Heart Screener helps to detect (and notify you of) heart arrhythmias thanks to a new FDA-cleared ECG feature that can be performed at any time on demand.  This ECG can be shared directly with a healthcare provider. Currently ECG measurement is not available in Australia as it proceeds through regulatory review — it has already been approved in the US, EU and the UK.
  • Blood Pressure Insights. Using patent-pending technology, the new WHOOP band can provide daily blood pressure insights, including systolic and diastolic pressures. It will also provide insights into how your blood pressure may be affecting your well-being and performance.

  • Womenʼs Hormonal Insights. Not only do the new WHOOP bands provide the routine cycle tracking, but they also deliver education and personalised insights on how your hormonal shifts influence recovery, sleep, stress, and performance.  This data collection is possible whatever stage of life you are at, whether navigating menstruation, pregnancy, or perimenopause.
  • Sleep Performance Update.   Sleep affects not just your performance and recovery but also your health span.  The new remagined Sleep Score delivers data and insights to you based on accurately measuring your sleep quality.
  • WHOOP Advanced Labs. This USA-only (at this stage) feature allows members to schedule blood tests and receive clinician reports that can be integrated directly into their WHOOP app. Combined, this information will provide a more comprehensive snapshot of their health and insights into how to improve it.
  • Comprehensive Fitness Tracking. WHOOP has not forgotten its fitness bread and butter and is still able to measure all your usual fitness data from daily steps to VO₂ Max and Muscular Strain during strength training.  The new app supports 145 activities, allowing you to optimise your fitness to improve performance and health.

All-new hardware

The new WHOOP band is smaller but packs a longer battery life and more sensors.  The new features of the hardware include:

  • More technology and sensors are packed into a 7% smaller form factor. The new sensors are capable of capturing data 26 times per second, which is then handled by a new processor that is not only faster but ten times more power efficient.
  • 14-Day Battery Life. The new hardware offers 14 days of charge to the WHOOP band, and with the new Wireless PowerPack, you can expect up to a month of battery life.
  • Elevated Accessories. WHOOP Body, AnyWear, and other accessories such as bands, have all been upgraded to include premium looks and finishes in innovative ways to continue tracking your health metrics wherever you are and whatever you are doing.
  • Medical-Grade ECG. For those who purchase the WHOOP MG, you can perform medical-grade ECG readings in seconds. You can share these with your clinician via the app.

Choose your level of health optimisation insights

WHOOP has introduced three new membership tiers (and prices), allowing you to choose the device and features that suit the level of insight you are after.

  • WHOOP One: Professional-grade fitness insights at our best price at AU9 per year.
  • WHOOP Peak: Advanced health, fitness and longevity insights designed to help you perform at your peak for longer. Priced at AU9 per year.
  • WHOOP Life: The most intelligent WHOOP ever with medical-grade health and performance insights. Priced at AU9 per year

WHOOP 5.0 and MG are available to purchase from today on WHOOP.com.
