Trend Micro announce “Scam Radar”. Real-time protection to keep you safe

Trend Micro today announced a significant an innovative enhancement to their ScamCheck app.

Scammers are clever. Gone are the days where they simply sent millions of messages in the hope enough people bite. As technology evolved so did their sophistication. Trend Micro’s ScamCheck app has always been the go-to guardian of your data but just as scammers have evolved so have their efforts to protect you. With Scam Radar, the latest innovation within the arsenal, it is precisely this multiprong and targeted approach that is identified, in real-time.

Scam Radar is designed to run in the background 24/7 and specifically searches for activity common in investment, government impersonation, shopping, loan and delivery scams

Trend Micro claims that consumers now can be confident that they can be alerted immediately to this suspicious behaviour and receive “tailored guidance early in the scam targeting process to interrupt the work of the scammer and help consumers avoid potential financial loss or exposure of their personal information”

They describe Scam Radar as a silent guardian and a real time defender but stress that this is only one prong of a multi-prong defence. They recommend a triple protection approach, with “vigilance over what they are consuming online and how they are consuming it, good digital habits such as strong password practices or employing a password manager, and finally, utilising technology tools that are both effective and cost-efficient in supplementing their good digital habits”
