Samsung S25 Ultra Colour range
I know, I know, you’ve heard a lot about Artificial Intelligence over the last few years, and wonder what it really all means. Well, I think the scale of AI means a lot of people haven’t even given it a go, and with so many Aussies living day to day with the most powerful AI machines right there in their pockets, I think it’s about time you gave it a try.
If you’ve got a Samsung Galaxy S or Z smartphone from the last couple of years, chances are it’s equipped with what Samsung calls “Galaxy AI” – a range of features set to make your life easier, change the way you use your phone, and perhaps have some fun too.
Here are eight things I want you to try on your Samsung Galaxy S or Z smartphone today!
Generative Edit in Photos
A feature that has evolved so much over recent years is the ability to use Generative Edit for your photos. The great thing here is you can use it in several ways; you can clean up a photo, or you can add to it (more on that later in Sketch to Image).
For example, this selfie – just me chilling in the EFTM office, but with all the shelves and things in the background, the focus isn’t really on me. Sure, that’s a good thing in some people’s eyes, but perhaps it’s a selfie for some sort of application.
A quick squiggle around the edges of the things I want to remove – just using my finger, and boom – we’ve got ourselves a clean image.
Works at the park to remove strangers in the background, and doesn’t do a bad job at home of cleaning up that kids’ mess around the house to make the photo a tad more “shareable” perhaps.
100% worth a try!
Instant Slow Mo video
I think most people know their phones can do a slow-motion video, but ask yourself this: how many times have you filmed a video and then after the fact thought “I wish I did a slow-mo of that” – of course, you can’t make the moment happen again.
Well, with Instant Slow Mo – you can.
In the gallery, simply watch the video, and at the moment you wish it would slow down – press and hold the screen. This now slows down the video, and when you release your finger you have the option to save that slow-mo clip too!
Never miss a slow-mo again!
AI Voice Notes from Voice Recorder
If you’re someone who sits in a lot of meetings, perhaps at work, maybe you volunteer at the local sports club, well you know there’s always someone taking minutes.
You’d never volunteer to be that person – or could you?
Place your Samsung smartphone down, open the Voice Recorder and record the meeting.
At the end, choose Transcript Assist, and even get a summary.
Dot points from a one-hour meeting – yes please!
Simple, and very, very easy to use.
AI Browser Summary
Imagine this, someone has sent you a link to a website – it’s an article they say “you have to read!”. But time is not on your side.
Fear not, choose Web Assist in the Samsung Internet Browser and “Summarise”.
Yep, get a summary of the website you’re reading.
Circle to Search
One of the single most popular AI features is Circle to search, and if you’re not doing it – what planet have you been living on?
Let’s say you’re reading an amazing article about a cool new pizza oven.
Press and hold the home button on the screen, the screen will flash and light up, then use your finger to draw a circle around the product.
A Google search will take place, and you’ll see suggestions about where to buy it – amazing.
Writing Assistant
Perhaps I’ve buried the lede here. Writing assistant may be the first thing you should try.
From checking spelling and grammar properly, through to re-writing text or even coming up with the starter for your text with “Composer” – Galaxy AI Writing tools is there for you.
Got a text message you think is too harsh? Get Writing Assistant to make it more casual.
It really can be anything you want. Think of it as a personal assistant – there to help, proof, challenge and come up with ideas!
Portrait studio – for your new profile pic
In the photo gallery, you can choose the distinctive Galaxy AI button to also have a little fun.
Perhaps you’re looking for a “new profile pic” for a social account, or perhaps a fun image for an invitation.
Choose Portrait Studio and then there are several “styles” of image you can create from an existing photo.
Comic, 3D Cartoons, Watercolour, and Sketch.
Look, it’s not a perfect portrait of me – but it’s a whole lot of fun!
Sketch to Image
Worried you should have a Christmas tree up in that photo you’re sending to the group chat?
Draw it!
Open a photo, choose the AI option to edit, and Sketch to Image.
Then scribble what you want – I did a Christmas tree, and it was awesome.
These are just some of the amazing AI features on your Samsung Galaxy smartphone, and for me, the ones you should be checking out now!
