Amazon announce the Australian launch of the more portable Fire TV Stick HD, available for preorder now

Amazon has today launched its newest streaming device, the Fire TV Stick HD, now more portable than ever, perfect for home and your holiday.

Available to preorder now for $79 with shipping beginning April 29, 2026.  It is Amazon’s slimmest streaming device and is optimised for Direct Power via your TV’s USB port, allowing it to fit comfortably behind your TV without a separate power adapter.

The new Fire TV Stick HD is 30% faster than the previous generation, turning on and opening apps faster than ever before.  Speed and reliability are also improved for connectivity with support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3.

The Fire TV Stick HD features Amazon’s new intuitive interface, allowing users to quickly find content with a new layout and smarter recommendations and begin streaming immediately.  Favourite apps can also be pinned directly to the home screen for faster access.

As mentioned above, the new Fire TV Stick HD is 30% slimmer and will easily fit in a carry bag or pocket. Its size allows it to fit into the TV’s HDMI port, with an included USB cable that powers the device from your TV’s USB port.  If you lack a USB port, the device can also be powered via a wall adapter and the USB-C cable.

Coming soon to the Fire TV Stick HD experience is Adaptive Display, which makes it easier to view text, menus, and content.

The all-new Fire TV Stick HD is available for pre-order today at AU$79 and will begin shipping on April 29, 2026. The Fire TV Stick HD is available to pre-order now from Amazon.com.au and will be available in leading Australian retailers, including JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks, and The Good Guys.
