Insta360 previews new Luna camera range and Mic Pro wireless microphone

Tech company Insta360 unveiled a new range of devices at the NAB Show (National Association of Broadcasters) in Vegas this week, teasing their new Luna camera range and Insta360 Mic Pro.

Luna

While not a lot was shown of the new Luna camera, it looks to be a 3-axis stabilized gimbal camera similar to DJI’s popular Osmo Pocket  range.

The cameras will include the both the Luna Pro and Luna Ultra, with Insta360 announcing they’ve partnered with Leica for the new cameras.

The Luna Pro will be a single-lens design, while Insta360 says the Luna Ultra will use a dual-lens design offering ‘enhanced telephoto performance’

Both the Pro and Ultra will use a large 1-inch sensor allowing more light capture, with an f/1.8 aperture lens offering variable focal lengths.

The cameras will support 10-bit colour capture, letting you show off smoother natural transitions in different lighting conditions.

As far as pricing, release and other options, we’ll hear more about it soon – but from the image provided it looks to be coming in Black and White colourways.

Insta360 Mic Pro

Insta360 have also teased their upcoming new ‘Mic Pro’, an expansion of their wireless mic’s announced in June last year.

The new Insta360 Mic Pro is designed to seamlessly integrate with your Insta360 cameras – but unlike other wireless mic’s that show off the brand of the mic, the Insta360 includes a customisable E-Ink Display you can add your name, logo or anything really that you want to include in the shot.

The Insta360 Mic Pro will use Direct Connect to send audio straight to your Insta360 cameras, with no receiver needed – just connect it to your Insta360 camera and go. There’s also local recording on the mic – just in case, so you can keep a backup for later processing.

They’ll use a three-microphone array, which will be run through AI-powered processing with noise-reduction seemingly processed on-board with Insta360 announcing ‘NPU-based noise reduction’.

No dates, prices or anything further has been announced, so we’ll see more when they get closer to launch.
