Kmart Partners with Google Cloud to Launch AI Virtual Try-On Experience

The announcements for AI from Google have included some great implementations for shopping, and Kmart is one of the first Australian retailers partnering with Google Cloud to deliver a virtual try on experience.

Starting today you’ll be able to see yourself in outfits from the Kmart website using Joy, Kmart’s AI shopping assistant. You’ll also be able to see Kmart products in your home using the ‘See it in my Space’ functionality.

For even more shopping convenience, you’ll also be able to use these in the Kmart app when the feature goes live in June.

Bernard Wilson, Chief Customer Officer at Kmart Group said of the launch

Customers aren’t just searching anymore; they’re engaging conversationally and looking for ideas and guidance. Joy and our AI experiences help them narrow the choices and find what’s right, across Kmart’s range of great products at low prices. This is a major step forward.”

Joy will further let you customise the virtual try on in a more natural conversational way, letting you search the Kmart database, with the ability to understand when you’re looki8ng for a different style, colour, occasion, or even what type of budget you’re shopping for.

The move to an automated shopping experience is also more likely in the future with Mr Wilson  saying

“We’re testing how agentic AI can support customers at various stages of the shopping journey, from discovery to decision-making, wherever they are.”

The virtual try on experience is live now on the Kmart website. Head over to check it out.
