Westpac brings back Cardless Cash withdrawals at ATMs using the Westpac App

Cardless Cash was a great idea – use your smartphone app to get a code and use it at an ATM to get cold hard cash even when you don’t have your actual card. It existed across a few banks, then slowly disappeared for reasons only boggling the mind of customers. But for Westpac customers – it’s back.

After stating previously “As part of continually reviewing our products and services, Westpac no longer offers the Cardless Cash Withdrawal feature.” – it’s back and ready.

And it’s perhaps more secure than ever – maybe indicating why it was removed in the first place. Now, instead of just getting a code to type into an ATM to get cash, you have to be within 10 meters of the ATM with the app for it to work. This perhaps indicates some form of mis-use or security risk on the part of the banks in the previous version of Cardless Cash.

So here’s how it works.

Open the Westpac app, and press that big RED CIRCLE with the Dollar Sign in it.

Then in the menu choose “Cardless Cash”

Next, simply choose the account you want to withdraw from

Select the amount of cash you want:

Then boom, a six digit code will appear on the app screen.

At the ATM itself, Select “Cardless withdrawal” and enter the code.

This works at any Westpac, St.George, Bank of Melbourne or BankSA ATM.

Go forth and withdraw folks, rejoice – people power brings it back!

Great spotting Damian. Cheers.
