Budget friendly Galaxy A27 5G will land in Australia next month with Six Years of Security Support

Samsung is expanding their affordable A-series mobile series with the new Galaxy A27 5G landing in Australian stores next month. 

Building on the Galaxy A26 launched last year, the Galaxy A27 offers up a similar spec with a few upgrades (and downgrades). 

First up, the phone includes the same 6.7” Super AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling, gaming and more, though with an upgraded the camera notch on the display though moving from a teardrop style to a punch hole notch for a cleaner look in what Samsung call their Infinity-O display.

It will only be available in Black in Australia, despite fun Blue, Light Green and Light Pink colourways announced for other ‘select’ markets. 

The phone has a lean 7.8mm profile, which is designed to feel more comfortable in the hand – though it drops to an IP64 rating from last year’s IP67 on the Galaxy A26. 

Samsung has stepped up to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 Mobile platform for the Galaxy A27, with 6GB RAM and 128GB of on-board storage (and microSD support up to 2TB) giving smoother performance across the board and there’s a 5,000mAh battery included with 25W wired charging support. 

The Selfie Camera in the new punch hole notch takes a step down to 12MP, however the sensor now captures a wider range of brightness and richer colours, which Samsung says will give you ‘more natural-looking selfies’

The rear camera will retain the 50MP main sensor, though the ultra-wide ‘drops’ to a 5MP sensor which is backed by a standalone 2MP macro sensor. 

Samsung will include a host of updates to their suite of existing AI features, with Circle to Search from Google now supporting multi-object recognition, while Object Eraser in the camera helps give you better memories on your photos.

Samsung is also giving you access to a range of AI assistants, with a choice between Google’s Gemini AI, or Perplexity, while Bixby now supports more natural control of your phone settings and features.

The phone will run Android 16, with Samsung’s OneUI 8.5 on-board, including six Android OS and Security updates, as well as One UI upgrades – with Samsung Knox offering hardware backed protection. 

The phone will be available on-shelf from July 3rd in Australia in Black only for $499. Between July 3-30th, you will get a $50 discount when shopping through participating retailers including Samsung.com and Samsung Experience Store taking the phone down to just $449.
